Sesame Street and Sickness....

Well It has been a while since I last posted because this cold/ear infection has stormed our house! It is so hard to take care of a sick toddler who can't tell you what is wrong! :( I felt so sad for him. He really is a trouper though, and SUCH a sweet heart! He has antibiotics now and seems to be doing MUCH better. If only he could blow his nose!! haha
So here is a recap of some of the events of the past few days.

I had been looking forward to Saturday for weeks because we were going to SESAME STREET! haha Marian bought tickets for the "grandma's" mom and Linden to all go see the show. It was so well done and Linden LOVED it! It was so cute. He just kept pointing and looking at Oma "saying" "are you seeing this Oma!?!?!?!" He danced to the music and clapped along!! It was so cute!!! We left a bit early but he lasted 1.5 hours. In the afternoon we went to visit Megan at her u-pick. Her backyard was beautiful! Shaded with mature trees. There was a nice breeze and she laid out a comfy blanket for Linden to sit on and brought out some fun farm toys. We had a nice chat and Linden spotted a tracktor from across the way. We walked to it and he LOVED it!!!! I think it is in his blood. He's like Uncle Chris that way! :) It was hard to take him away from it!
Linden started feeling worse and had goopy eyes so I took him to the clinic. Sure enough the doctor said his ear looked red and gave us a perscription if things got worse on Sunday...and boy did it...poor guy got a fever and was so shaky...just not himself. We got the antibiotics in him and he's doing much better. My mom (thank goodness for mothers) came over and watch him yesterday so I could sleep (since I wasn't getting much sleep in the night). That was a HUGE help!!!!! I am so blessed!
I have really felt God's presence with me giving me the strength and energy right when I need it! I always remind myself that God will never give us more than we can handle! What an amazing God he is :)

Hot, Tired and Cranky!

Well all of the sudden our cool weather has turned into ridiculously HOT HOT HOT! As most people know, I am NOT a fan of the heat. But I guess it is nice to feel like it is summer! Linden has been a little cranky and out of sorts. He has been having MAJOR meltdowns and temper tantrums...but at least the majority of the time he is such a sweet heart! He has also been more cuddly than ever! I think maybe it is because of his cold. he isn't sleeping well, so that will change his behaviour !

We had a great time in the shade and water today. We played in our backyard and went to Nana and Gramps' house and had a nice family swim! :) It was nice to be with James tonight!

Queen...for a moment

Highlights of the day

AN EARLY MORNING...not a highlight, but seeing James and Linden cuddle in bed while he watched sesame street was heart melting :)

Went to the park with Nana. Linden loved walking in and out of the bars at the "blue pirate park" at Mill Lake.

Swimming with Nana was so much fun too! He had a BLAST! Nana bought him a new life jacket which worked amazingly well and I got a long armed swimsuit so we didn't have to worry about burning. It was here he laughed the hardest all day! Me too actually...it was so much fun. I love swimming and Linden seems like a natural. He already kicks and paddles. It still makes me nervous though to have him around the pool...he has no fear! That makes a Mom worry!!! (check out the video of then and now...of course we didn't get the funnest part on video but it's still fun for me to watch...don't know about you!)

We had a great visit with Maria Olson! She came over and we chatted...it was really fun...Linden was a bit shy and just wanted to watch Sesame Street Beginnings over and over...He is also climbing up onto things (like chairs) really well...oh that reminds me, I had to turn his crib around because he was starting to try to climb out! The high side is to the front now!

Before bed Linden and I went to the farm. He had a fork lift ride with Daddy and ran through the plastic (with the one door closed making Mommy feel better). He LOVES being with his Dad!!!!! Dad is so much fun! He points to the farm when we are at home and when he saw James today walking towards him I clearly heard him say "dada"! It is so sweet to watch the two of them together. We scooped up a basket of raspberries (which he will NOT eat!) and took them home. I started snacking on the way home and then Linden started to feed them to me. Well this was quite fun for him so he just kept going and was sad to stop. It made me feel like a queen for a moment, being hand fed individual raspberries! :)

Another Wonderful Day with My Boy

This morning began with a Tim Horton's delivery!! I certainly have an amazing mother in law! That sure got the day rolling well! Then it was off to the Super Store...(it is always good to go there with coffee already in me!). It was actually not painful at all...in fact, I may even say it was fun! Linden usually has a hard time sitting in a grocery cart for such a long time. I basically motor around as fast as I can then head to the till. It is nice when the person behind me entertains him a little!! I just wish they would help pack up the groceries! It is always such a gong show trying to pack them up, watch Linden and sign the visa receipt! Ah well, we made it!
Then we had a visit at the farm with Daddy and Oma and home for a nap. As part of my project "Clean the Bergen House" I decided to go through all my clothes and get rid of a bunch. He woke up while I was in the process of it...but I already have a bag and a half! ahh, feels good!
We also went to our favourite hang out...the ZOO! I basically let him walk around, which he LOVED I think we spent about an hour there...the time just flew by! It was SO much fun to watch him discover everything!!! Even the littlest thing caught his eye! He now roars when he sees the lions (and the lion statues outside the zoo). He saw something he liked behind a fence and when I said it was time to go by he stopped and gave a fond farewell wave and blew kisses...then walk a few steps, turned back and kissed again. Then we were on our way! haha He also spent a good few minutes running around a tree! (see video) I also thought it was so cute how whenever we stopped at a fence to look at an animal he would crouch down (see picture). All in all it was another great day! We'll see what tomorrow has in store for us! Yawn, I better rest up for it!

Terrible Twos????

Linden is officially in the tantrum stage...full on drama...crying, crumbling to the floor, tears streaming, etc...it's hard not to laugh sometimes because it is so ridiculous! But I know that it is just the developmental stage he's at! Although sometimes I seriously have to think if it is worth it to do certain things because I know the trauma it will cause when it is over!!! These tantrums usually occur when we leave the farm. Either he wants to be on the fork lift or run through the plastic strip things! Really anytime we have to go inside the house after being outside! He just loves the outdoors! A positive to this stage is his ability to be more independent. He will play by himself for longer, which is nice and he's on a pretty good schedule. I think that this summer is gearing up to be MUCH easier than last summer...yes I will be running around after him, but we can do so much more! It is pretty fun actually! Mom said that all us kids went through the "terrible twos" closer to 18months, and he is almost 17 months now! So maybe he's just a little early! haha I am loving being a mom more and more! He really is the best!!! I love his snuggles, hugs and kisses! It really makes it all worth it! :)

My little Baby

Well this morning I decided to take Linden to church...just the two of us! I planned on going for the singing part then leave for the sermon. To my surprise, Linden just sat in my arms. I could feel him totally relax as he ate his snacks and listened to Myron! He fell asleep in my arms and I was able to listen to the whole sermon! It was great! I didn't look great, barely had time to do my hair or dress us up, but I figure God doesn't care about those things and that he'd just be happy to have us there! :)

I'm still fighting this cold...as is everyone else in my family. I have such a long list of to dos...sometimes it just feel so overwhelming you don't know where to start! I'm looking forward to my Norwex stuff coming in...then I can go cleaning crazy! My goal for July is to do a thorough cleaning of my house! All the windows and corners and everything!!!!! It all seems a bit daunting right now...but one step at a time I can do it...and hopefully my energy will be restored soon too! So, if anyone has any cleaning tips, please do share!!!! :)

Chicken Noodle Soup

Today was a pretty great day! We went to the zoo in the morning, which is always a blast! Linden and I love it! The baby giraffe was standing there waiting for us! :) such a treat!
It was a two coffee day, and I'll be off to bed when I'm finished this post.
I made chicken noodle soup from scratch for the family! James, Linden, and I are all a little sniffly....No fun. I hope my soup will work miracles! haha
Linden found his new favourite thing...running through the plastic strip things in the plant. He ran back and forth for probably 15mins! He sure was exhausted!!! It does make me nervous though...we can't do it when cars are driving around! Or else there will have to be three people watching him!
I also did a little more gardening today. I don't have high hopes for my garden, but I do hope that something grows!!! I think the carrots are a flop already, but the beans, peas, and potatoes are growing so far! Today I put in squash, zucchini, onions, and lettuce. I still want to add halloween pumpkins! Linden "helped" me....although he ended up eating some dirt! That's what happens when you turn your back on a 16 month old for even a few seconds! Gross...ah well...it'll probably help with his immune system! I also let him play with his water table which he LOVES but gets so soaking wet!!! Gotta save it for a bit warmer day...I hear that's in the forecast!

In the pictures above you can see the process of Linden getting Daddy to drive him on the fork lift! Please Daddy? If you give me your soother Linden. Okay here you go. Sweet, on the fork lift! Into the freezer...I can turn it back on Dad!
